The kit comes with high visibility markings for both the USMC and RAF versions. The instrument panel layout is for the GR.1. The ultimate Harrier kit still remains the 1/24 scale Airfix giant. Using reference photos, I added seat cushions, upper and lower ejection handles, an oxygen/communications block, parachute straps and seat belts and various side details. The reference photos showed a sharp line between upper and lower camouflage but a feathered edge between upper colors. To the unititated, Airfix's instruction sheet will need a bit of getting used to as the part number, construction sequence marking and paint marking symbols can get a bit confusing. Assembly of this kit was the most challenging part. Using reference photos, I constructed them from Evergreen stock, wire and solder. Unfortunately a lot of detail and painting was obscured after the engine was installed. I'm going to take the liberty of putting my build thread for this one in here, and on it's own. The Gr3 variant will come together with around 250 parts. Out of the box it produces a good model but requires a substantial amount of work to bring it up to competition standards.
The kit wheels were solid but reference photos showed lightening holes. The engine included in the kit was excellent, undoubtedly the best part of the kit.
Again, decals from the spares box were used for finishing touches. The kit came with a wide variety of underwing stores, however most were applicable only to the RAF version. The kit landing gear was adequate but I added hydraulic lines, electrical wires and two landing/taxi lights.

I’m looking at doing another, can you build a GR1 from the GR3 boxing and can you build a 1 or 3 from a Sea Harrier boxing. It's quite a project, and as such I think it deserves its own thread! There is the GR1 and FRS1 to accompany the GR3 variant. The basic cockpit was good but was lacking in some important details. Construction breakdown is rather tricky due to the ill fitting parts especially on the air intakes and fuselage halves. The clear parts are a bit thick and will require some cleaning and polishing.
The exterior was finished with Testors enamels. After a lengthy downtime due to server crash, we are finally back online. Though a bit dated in terms of details and coming a little short in terms of accuracy and fit, the kit still packed a wallop when it came to size and sheer impact. I have 3 of these kits(in various states,i'm not likely build them), you can build the GR1 or GR3 straight from the box, the Sea Harrier is the same kit but with extra sprue for the revised front end and canopy, so no GR canopy included.
